Types of Appliances

Braces use constant, gentle pressure, which over time, move teeth into improved positions. Your braces are at work every moment of your orthodontic treatment

At Cedar Clinic we take pride in offering our patients state of the art orthodontic techniques. These advanced systems provide the most effective means of strengthening crooked teeth.

Conventional Fixed Braces

This tried and tested system of realigning teeth has been producing excellent results for many years. Such braces consist of small brackets attached to the front of the teeth and connected with a thin wire which is held in place with elastic bands, called ligatures. Modern fixed brace systems use brackets which can be metal or tooth coloured and are much smaller than in years gone by. Ligatures are now available in a variety of colours so it is possible to completely customise your braces. The archwire is adjusted at regular intervals to straighten the teeth and correct the bite.

Damon System Braces

The Damon System is not just about revolutionary braces and wires, it's a whole new way of treating patients. Traditional treatment often requires removal of healthy teeth and/or the use of palatal expanders to make space. This approach is often uncomfortable, takes longer, and can leave a narrower arch and a flat profile. Damon smiles are full, natural 10-tooth smiles achieved with light biologically-sensible forces, and are specifically designed to improve the overall facial result of each patient.

Damon braces combine three key components, which when used together, deliver faster treatment, fewer appointments, greater comfort, and consistent high-quality results:

  • Damon passive self-ligating braces that eliminate the need for elastic or metal "ties". With Damon tie-less braces you can experience treatment without tightening.

  • Light high-technology shape-memory wires that move teeth faster and require fewer adjustments.

  • A new clinically proven treatment approach that aligns your teeth and enhances your facial aesthetics-usually without extractions or rapid palatal expanders.

Invisalign

Invisalign is a technique which straightens teeth without the use of braces. It involves the use of a series of nearly undetectable aligners instead of wires and brackets. Each set of aligners are worn for approximately two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, teeth move little by little until they have straightened to the desired amount. Using 3D computer technology, each set of aligners is designed to fit snuggly around an individual patient's teeth. Total treatment time averages 9 -15 months, with the average number of aligners worn during treatment varying from case to case. Invisalign is particularly suitable for adults and Invisalign Teen for most teenagers.

Incognito

For those patients seeking the very best treatment in the most discrete fashion, Incognito is the ultimate answer. What makes the Incognito system so different is that the braces are fitted to the back, rather than the front, of the teeth. This makes them virtually invisible to other people. Using a state-of-the-art process, each bracket is custom made to fit the individual patient and custom designed arch wires are manufactured to perfectly match the brackets. Together the brackets and arch wire work to gently move the teeth into their optimum position.

Incognito Lite

For patients where only the front teeth are crooked we offer the Invisible Lite system, where brackets are fitted to the back of only those teeth which require realigning. Practically invisible to other people, a perfectly straight smile can be achieved in approximately 6 to 9 months.
