DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY - PANORAL & PERIAPICAL

There are several benefits to using digital radiography over traditional film X-rays:

Less Radiation

The equipment used in digital radiography exposes dental patients to much less radiation. In fact, digital X-rays use up to 90 percent less radiation than film X-rays. While conventional dental X-rays are relatively safe, digital radiography is an excellent option for those who take X-rays on a regular basis or for those who are concerned about radiation.

Shorter Dental Appointments

Digital radiography can also shorten your dental appointment! With traditional dental X-rays, you'll have to wait while your dentist develops the film. With digital radiography, the sensor develops the picture almost instantly and projects it onto a computer screen right before your eyes.

Environmentally Friendly

Digital dental X-rays are better for the environment! With digital radiography, no chemicals are used to develop film.

Transferring Dental Records

Digital images can be e-mailed to another clinician for immediate review or specialist opinion

Higher Quality Images

The standard size of traditional X-rays can make viewing difficult, but digital radiography has done away with the "one size fits all" mentality. Once on the screen, digital X-rays can be enlarged or magnified for a better visual of the tooth's structure. Brightness, contrast and colour can also be adjusted, allowing your dentist to see small cavities much more easily. If you need a hard copy of your X-ray, digital images can also be printed out.

The Gold Standard in Dental Xrays

We are delighted to be able to offer our patients the most advanced dental radiographic system currently available - 3D Cone Beam Tomography.

Our Cone Beam X ray machine is basically a mini CAT-Scan machine for teeth and jaws, which provides a digital three dimensional view of what lies beneath your teeth and gums.

A digital xray scanner is mounted on a rotating arm that circles your head. As it rotates, the xray is projected in a carefully controlled, cone shaped beam through you and onto an image intensifier sensor. The resulting images are displayed on a computer screen allowing our dentists to see - in 360 - undistorted, virtual, rotating models of your oral anatomy.

Major Benefit

The major benefit of 3D Cone Beam scanning is that it gives us the ability to discriminate between different types of tissue. A major limitation of traditional 2D xrays is the inability to differentiate between the many different types of tissue in the mouth-like bones, nerves, soft tissue etc. Cone Beam CT scans give a much more accurate image of your mouth and skull, enabling our dentists to create a precise treatment plan based on your personal anatomy. This is especially useful in the placing of implants.

At Coach House, we are dedicated to providing the latest technology to ensure that the dental procedures we provide are as safe and predictable as possible. The introduction of state-of-the-art 3D Cone Beam Technology ensures that we remain at the forefront of delivering the ultimate in patient care.

INTRA

ORAL CAMERAS

An intra-oral camera is a tiny video camera that looks very much like a pen. Our dentists use the camera to take detailed images of the inside of a patient's mouth. By sharing these images with the patient, it becomes possible for the patient to see exactly what the dentist sees. This allows dentist and patient to work together in determining the best way forward for the patient to regain optimal oral health and aesthetic improvement.

MAGNIFICATION OPERATING LOUPES

Operating Loupes resemble a rather strange looking pair of glasses, which the dentist wears. They are a portable, less powerful version of a dental microscope. The increased magnification provided by the loupes allows the clinician to observe structures, such as fine fracture lines not always visible to the naked eye. As adequate light is also of immense importance in performing precision dentistry, loupes are also often fitted with a light source. Loupes enable dentists to not only make more accurate diagnoses but also to carry out treatments at a more precise level.

OVERHEAD TVs & Music

All our surgeries are equipped with an overhead TV for our patients to watch whilst having their treatment carried out. While some patients would rather not take advantage of this facility, others welcome the distraction.

If they so wish, we are also happy for patients to bring along their own device to use whilst undergoing treatment.
