DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY – PANORAL & PERIAPICAL

There are several benefits to using digital radiography over traditional film X-rays:

Less Radiation

The equipment used in digital radiography exposes dental patients to much less radiation. In fact, digital X-rays use up to 90 percent less radiation than film X-rays. While conventional dental X-rays are relatively safe, digital radiography is an excellent option for those who take X-rays on a regular basis or for those who are concerned about radiation.

Shorter Dental Appointments

Digital radiography can also shorten your dental appointment! With traditional dental X-rays, you'll have to wait while your dentist develops the film. With digital radiography, the sensor develops the picture almost instantly and projects it onto a computer screen right before your eyes.

Higher Quality Images

The standard size of traditional X-rays can make viewing difficult, but digital radiography has done away with the "one size fits all" mentality. Once on the screen, digital X-rays can be enlarged or magnified for a better visual of the tooth's structure. Brightness, contrast and colour can also be adjusted, allowing your dentist to see small cavities much more easily. If you need a hard copy of your X-ray, digital images can also be printed out.

Transferring Dental Records

Digital images can be e-mailed to another clinician for immediate review or specialist opinion

Environmentally Friendly

Digital dental X-rays are better for the environment! With digital radiography, no chemicals are used to develop film.

INTRA ORAL CAMERAS

An intra-oral camera is a tiny video camera that looks very much like a pen. Our dentists use the camera to take detailed images of the inside of a patient’s mouth. By sharing these images with the patient, it becomes possible for the patient to see exactly what the dentist sees. This allows dentist and patient to work together in determining the best way forward for the patient to regain optimal oral health and aesthetic improvement.

MAGNIFICATION OPERATING LOUPES

Operating Loupes resemble a rather strange looking pair of glasses, which the dentist wears. They are a portable, less powerful version of a dental microscope. The increased magnification provided by the loupes allows the clinician to observe structures, such as fine fracture lines not always visible to the naked eye. As adequate light is also of immense importance in performing precision dentistry, loupes are also often fitted with a light source. Loupes enable dentists to not only make more accurate diagnoses but also to carry out treatments at a more precise level.

CEREC

Our dentists use CEREC technology so you can be in and out in a single visit with a permanent, all ceramic crown, onlay, or veneer! For you, the dental patient, this means fewer injections, less drilling, and less time out of your hectic schedule for dental care.

    Single Appointment Dental Care
Most dental restorative methods require more than one visit to the dentist.

This means that on the first visit, you get an injection of local anesthesia, your tooth is prepared, an impression taken, and a temporary restoration put on your tooth.

You make a second appointment for a couple of weeks later, get another injection, have the temporary crown removed and the permanent restoration fitted.

Why go to the dentist a second time when you don't have to? With CEREC, the procedure is done in a single appointment, start to finish.

    Finest Dental Materials

A CEREC tooth restoration isn't just convenient, it is also healthy. Many years ago, dentists had few options to repair decayed and damaged teeth other than amalgam, gold, and other metals. With CEREC, our dentists can use strong, tooth colored ceramic materials to restore your teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and function.

These materials closely match the composition of natural tooth structure. This means when you eat hot food and then drink something cold, the restoration and tooth expand and contract at almost equal rates. So, your tooth does not crack, and you can go on enjoying your evening.

Also, the materials are chemically bonded to your tooth, so your dentist can save as much healthy tooth tissue as possible while providing you with a dental restoration that strengthens your tooth.

    Smile Enhancement

Your dentist can use CEREC for more than just crowns and fillings. CEREC is capable of producing any single tooth restoration. Chipped or discolored front teeth can be repaired with beautiful CEREC porcelain anterior crowns or veneers. Your smile makes a lasting first impression. Enhance it with CEREC.

Worldwide, a CEREC restoration is placed every 20 seconds. With a history of nearly 20 years, this equipment has helped dentists place over 6 million restorations. Using metal free materials that are the closest to your natural enamel, CEREC gives you the highest quality restorative care. Ask our dentists today about single visit CEREC restorative care!

QUICKSLEEP LOCAL ANAESTHETIC SYSTEM

Experience Painless Injections

We know that some patients get more nervous than others at the mere sight of a needle and syringe. That's where the CompuDent system comes in, featuring the Wand - a small lightweight handpiece that resembles a pen. The computer controlled system allows for an even-flow delivery of anesthetic in a very comfortable, non-threatening manner. It eliminates the "bee sting" effect - the painful consequence from a surge of fluid into a confined tissue area. Even more, certain injections made possible with the Wand minimize the unnecessary numbness of the tongue, cheek, and face. Imagine leaving the dentists surgery without a "fat lip!

ELECTRONIC SHADE GUIDE

When patients are having a front tooth restored, one of their main priorities is that it should match and blend in with the surrounding teeth. However, determining the exact shade of a patient’s tooth is much more difficult then one would imagine as it is influenced by such things as lighting, colours of clothes, surgery décor etc. In order to eliminate the influence of such factors, our practice is equipped with an electronic shade guide, which consists of a handpiece that contains multiple spectrophotometers. Held against a neighbouring tooth to that being restored, the probe feeds information to a touch-screen readout. This details the closest matching shade available ensuring an aesthetically pleasing end result.

OVERHEAD TVs & MP3 PLAYERS

All our surgeries are equipped with an overhead TV for our patients to watch whilst having their treatment carried out. While some patients would rather not take advantage of this facility, others welcome the distraction.

If they so wish, we are also happy for patients to bring along their MP3 players to use whilst undergoing treatment.
