Frequently asked questions

How soon can I be seen?
We can usually offer appointments within 48 hours for routine check-ups and treatment appointments. Registered patients of the practice who are in pain will normally be seen on the same day if they telephone before 10am.

I am a new patient. How much will an examination cost?
As we have not seen you before, it is important that we allow enough time to be able to fully assess your oral and dental condition as well as to answer any questions you may have. In order to do this, it may be necessary for you to have some x-rays taken. The total charge for this first thorough examination would normally be no more than £86. All patients are given a printed estimate of treatment following their check up. All treatment items are itemises and costed. This allows you to make an informed decision on how you wish your treatment to proceed.

When do I pay for treatment?
We ask that you pay for treatment as it is carried out. As an alternative to this, patients may choose to join one of our Dental Care & Insurance Plans. Details of these can be obtained from your dentist or a member of our reception staff.

Do you offer out of hours surgeries?
We appreciate that for some people, getting away from commitments to attend the dentist can be difficult. At Coach House we offer appointments from 8.30 am every day, appointments until 7 pm on Monday evenings and Saturday morning clinics.

I have a cold. Should I cancel my appointment?
If your nose is streaming and you feel genuinely unwell, we would ask that you phone and rebook your appointment.

Is it okay for me to see the dentist when I have a coldsore?
If the sore has actually broken the skin then please telephone to reschedule your appointment, as coldsores are highly contagious.
